Our very own CEO, Anita Murray was let loose on Hotelympia this year. So we took a (pre-approved) scroll through her camera roll to recap on her standout… well, stands.
Hot under the collar
The foodservice equipment area was a veritable hotbed of testosterone – naked flames barbequed great slabs of meat and pizzas were pulled from towering infernos, as crowds were caught in a healthy back and forth between bantering exhibitors (all of whom who were seemingly out to prove they had the biggest oven).
Spicing it up
It was a full house at The Staff Canteen Live too, with Paul Ainsworth among the first to take the stage – after our very own Katlin Ambos from Santa Maria was called up to give chefs a masterclass on cinnamon and cassia.
Worth its salt
Anita also took a tip from food industry expert Jane Milton and tried out Halen Môn sea salt, Umami No2. Not only was the salt incredible, it was great to chat to the owners about their story – they’ve even been given Protected Designation of Origin status which puts their sea salt up there with the likes of champagne and Parma ham!
A taste of Saturday Night Fever-Tree
All this stand-hopping was thirsty work. So Anita popped over to speak to the folks at Fever-Tree, who were showcasing a new range of mixers designed for dark spirits. Tip of the day from Fever-Tree’s Charlie Roberts – try Plymouth Sloe Gin with lemon tonic.
Anita finished up by admiring some stunning handcrafted exhibits made of sugar, chocolate, pastillage and fat, including a rather handsome Chimpanzee (which she and Springboard’s Geoffrey Roe decided was the finest of the lot).
It was great to see so many of you there and catch up with old friends. Exciting times ahead!
