November is Vegan Month, but the last few weeks have already been particularly vegan friendly themselves.

From plant-based pop-ups to meat-free menus, restaurants are giving vegans a much greater choice. Nando’s has added to their veggie options with a Sweet Potato & Butternut Burger and Supergreen Burger, both available in vegetarian and vegan options. Over in Finland, McDonald’s are trialling the suitably named ‘McVegan’ burger.

Meanwhile, here in the UK, Pizza Hut is utilising Violife’s vegan cheese to trial a vegan pizza. And Carluccio’s is launching a Covent Garden pop-up selling only vegetarian and vegan food for four consecutive Mondays, starting 23 October.

But it’s not just food where vegans are getting more choice, drink is playing its part too. Last month Baileys launched ‘Baileys Almande’, a vegan-friendly version of the tipple made without the dairy and with plenty of almonds. Word is, people are going nuts for it…

And last, but by no means least, the UK’s first vegan-focussed trade show is coming to London on 20 October. Vegfest UK will see some of the biggest names in the industry head to Olympia London to discuss the future of free-from.

All of these vegan victories show just how quickly vegetarian, vegan and free-from diets are growing, and as we approach Vegan Month, it will be interesting to see how much further these markets grow.
